Esther Andringa
Oshawa, Ontario
Esther Andringa grew up in Oshawa, Ontario as the youngest of four kids. Growing up Esther had an interest in photography, from taking a camera to every class trip to creating photo shoots featuring stuffed animals. She never realized her passion could become a career until much later in life. In high school, Esther attended R.S. McLaughlin Collegiate and Vocational Institute and furthered her knowledge by taking courses like Communication Technology, where she learned about film photography and started to concentrate her creativeness exclusively in photography. She used a small digital camera: a Sony Cybershot and started to dabble in Photoshop. She soon realized her passion for photography and photo manipulation, continuing to learn and practice as much as she could. Esther graduated high school and enrolled in Durham College in a program called Pre-Media. Durham College did not have a photography program at the time. Pre-Media was a combination of many kinds of media fields and after completing the program Esther had to make a decision to pursue Advertising or the new program: Digital Photography. After completing a year in Advertising Esther realized her one true passion would always be photography and took the dive to start her career in the field by enrolling in the Digital Photography program. Currently in her second semester of the program, Esther is eager to learn as much as she can and start her career as a professional photographer.
Esther has been able to have some photography jobs including taking event photography for Whitby Free Methodist Church and camp photographer at Medeba Summer Camp, and has recently taken engagement photos for a young couple. And it is just the start.
