Ethan Cumming

Hi, my name is Ethan Cumming. I am currently a grade 10 student at Oakville Trafalgar HS, having completed grade 9 at King's Christian Collegiate.

I've always been a very energetic kid, having sports always be a big part of my childhood. I would always watch NFL games with my mom, but I was never big enough or focused enough to play football myself. My ADHD was a big factor in my childhood, as it limited my academics, and ability to use my athleticism to my advantage.

After my medication came into the picture, life started to turn around and I found comfort in sports. In grade 9 I was still not big enough to play football, but I was fast on the track team, and it helped me experience success and grow as a person. During the following summer I was committed to bulking up, so me and my friend from elementary school decided to get a routine together.

It was a grueling routine, but the 6 day a week in my basement gave us the discipline and fitness to think of playing contact sports as a reality. In the past year I managed to add 35 pounds of muscle, making me stronger and faster than ever. I only put on 20 pounds in the time before football season at OTHS, but that was all I needed. I found extreme comfort and joy on a football field, like one would do yoga, I would play football. My skill level skyrocketed as the season progressed, going from a bench warmer, to the star running back. It gave me extreme confidence, and I joined a rep football team, making the tryouts with ease, and becoming a prospect.

I am currently looking at different scholarships from Universities in both Canada and the US. I am hoping to take this somewhere, though I have a great interest in biochemistry, should the odds of making a professional sport team come into play. School always comes first, and I make sure I always have a backup plan for dream chasing.
