IB Prep is essentially a class located in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) lab, where all of the students have access to iPads, Macbook laptops, desktop computers, and cameras. In this class, we air weekly episodes of the middle school news, BBTV. We also continually work on our 20% Project, a yearlong set of different sub-projects such as surveys, acrostic poems, and comics relating a topic of your interest that was chosen at the beginning of the school year. Last, we work on small assignments given to us during class, like a screencast on two different school subjects or a research paper on a famous mathematician. Major, nationwide contests we have entered as different groups include the Kahli Save the World project, in which you formulated an idea to be more environmental, and the No Bull Challenge, where groups of students made 5-minute videos raising cyber-bullying awareness. In a nutshell, IB Prep is a relatively laid-back class where students can interact with technology and become polymath problem solvers.
