Erik Trilk is a high school English teacher who lives in Marion, Iowa with his wife, Heather, his three-going-on-sixteen-year-old daughter Maggie, and his one-year-old son/human wrecking ball Owen. Erik grew up in the great state of Iowa in a semi-famous city called Dubuque. After graduating from high school he attended the University of Northern Iowa as well as studying in the beautiful country of Wales where we was given the opportunity to discover good music, good film, good travel, and good people. Erik is in his eighth year of molding young minds in the classroom, as well as his eighth year coaching high school soccer and second coaching middle school cross country.

When he's not doing things that he is contractually obliged to be doing, Erik likes to play the guitar, fascinate/cry over The Beatles and Oasis, cheer for the Minnesota Twins and the U.S. national soccer team, spend time with his loving family, and dream about what it would be like to meet Paul McCartney or Liam Gallagher.

Erik published his first novel: "Music, Drugs, and the Mess We're In" in March of 2012. As a teen, he was a full-fledged member of the "I Don't Ever Want To Grow Up" club and was much more interested in friends, parties, and sleep. As he grew older though, he fell in love, got married, had two children, took a full-time job educating the youth of America, and in general realized that it's not that scary to get older as long as you don't "grow up".

Erik's first collection of short stories, "It's Never Too Late To Go Back Home" was released in December of 2012 and chronicles the lives of high school teens and grown-up kids set in the 1990's: The Greatest Decade in American History, and includes much on Alternative music, 90's film comedies, and other assorted pop culture items used as a backdrop for some hilarious and thought-provoking stories.

Trilk's first published piece was a short story entitled, "The Boy Who Loved Hockey" in the Washington Junior High newsletter in 1993 (Trilk's 7th grade year), in which they misprinted his line about the protagonist scoring the winning goal in the championship game as: "He shits! He scores!" His mom though that was hilarious.
