Stefano Gurciullo

London, UK

I am pursuing a PhD at the University College of London, exploring the integration of economics, the study of complex systems and artificial intelligence to devise methods that will efficiently and rapidly adapt institutions to the changing needs of current societies. Part of my work is in partnership with the European Central Bank.

I am also deeply concerned with organised crime, corruption and security. I developed a framework to measure the extent to which criminal organisations infiltrate into the legitimate economy. The technique helps the devising of preventive and disruptive measures against organised crime. Previously, I also explored the dynamics, causes and consequences of the international cocaine trade flows passing through West Africa.

I enjoy public engagement about the issues the issues I work on. I routinely author articles and presentations on, for example, crime and security, on the Italian think tank Quattogatti.info - of which I am co-founder and editor - and the news websites Il Fatto Quotidiano and CTzen.

I am just gettig started on the field of startups. More soon, stay tuned.

Martial arts, weird sci-fi books and Nutella are some of my passions.
