Lederhosen are cowhide pants or breeches with suspenders and drop down pads that cover the knee. Breeches that end beneath the knee are called bundhosen. In German, lederhosen literally mean cowhide pants. Lederhosen originate from Alpine Germany. Lederhosen were for the most part worn by German men who worked in strenuous employments that required hard work.
