Evan Clabots

For Clabots, design is a process of developing a complete story. Form no longer follows function. Instead, there is an interconnected play between what something looks, how it works and how it interacts with someone’s life. His process is driven by the question of “Why something is?”, not “What something is?”. Each defining element in his work, acts in context with the other. Together they form a cohesive and compelling narrative.

In 2010, Clabots founded Nonlinear Studio, a collaborative under which creative people from different field’s to work together and offer a broad range of services. Nonlinear publicly debuted its first work during the International Contemporary Furniture Fair 2010. The Studio's work was selected for inclusion in two satellite shows: 400 Years Later: Cite Goes America, held at the CITE store in SOHO and Lift, Roll, Hold held at the famed New York design store, the Future Perfect. Since the studio’s inception, Clabots work has been featured internationally in the press including being selected for SURFACE Magazine’s “American Legion” as one of America’s leading new creative talents. At Nonlinear, Clabots has expanded his creative reach from product and interior design, to include branding, art direction and production design.
