Jason Evans

As a child, Jason spent summers in Freeport, Grand Bahama where he helped his Grandfather in his wood-working shop, making trinkets. Jason’s time around his grandfather quickly formed an interest in Arts and Crafts. His father soon recognized his son’s emerging artistic talent from age 8.
At St. Johns College primary school, as a loner, Jason recalls playing in old dilapidated buildings and often times when it rained, he cleverly would make an umbrella out of just spokes, gears and straws; to cover him from getting wet.
While in High School at St. Johns College, Jason excelled in all art and craft classes he was enrolled in. Jason started drawing on his clothing for fun; his classmates quickly noticed
and immediately showed an interest in his designs. This new fad Jason had started made his classmates eager to have his drawings on their clothing, as well. He was able to capitalize on this new fad, by charging his friends for his drawings. The love and enthusiasm he showed for arts during school, led him to study art intensively.
Almost immediately after graduating high school, Jason was afforded the opportunity to design the entire booklet for the 1990 World Boxing Championship which was held at The Crystal Palace Hotel in Nassau, Bahamas. That experience was just a taste of what he was going to learn as a graphic designer. Graphic design encompasses painting, drawing, calligraphy, wood shop, space design, book design and performance.
Jason matriculated from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1995, with a Bachelor’s of Science in Graphic Design.
Jason describes his artwork, as ‘hyper abstractions’. One will experience various views from just ‘one’ piece of work, due to his dimensions; Jason is very interested in 3-D images. Jason’s art myriads and ‘hyper abstractions’ has now, led him to the animation world.
The transition from graphic design to the animation world was not a hard process for him to move into, because as he coins it: “Animation is story-telling and Moving Graphics”.
Jason is a self-taught Bahamian Animator, whose animated film was shown at The Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) in 2011, where he received an honorable mention: ‘A Tall Tale of an Accidental Tourist’.
Animation has cultivated a genuine love for teaching. Jason’s first teaching challenge, proved to be a new found love. He taught animation at Akephren International School in Nassau, Bahamas during
