Evan McGowan-Watson is an entrepreneur, outdoorsman, enthusiastic craftsman, and a co-founder of online branding and reputation management startup BrandYourself (BY). BY is the first DIY platform that simplifies taking control of Google search results. Though he currently resides in New York, Evan’s affinity for crafting wood, metal and craft ale reveals his Burlington, Vermont background.

As someone who has always held a passion for business development, Evan McGowan-Watson attended the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, where he double majored in Entrepreneurship and Writing, and minored in Metalsmithing.

Evan began collecting knowledge on the development and scaling of small business models while working as an executive assistant at the Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship. During his employment at the Falcone Center, McGowan-Watson deepened his understanding of market research, consulting, and sales – skills that would become pivotal in the building of BrandYourself.

Working alongside Syracuse University friends, Patrick Ambron and Pete Kistler to improve Kistler’s then damaging and false search results, the three men grew an idea into one of the leading reputation and branding platforms for the everyday person.

Ambitious, innovative, and filling a gap in the industry, BY has amassed impressive recognition of their project: named by the White House as one of the Empact 100 Companies with founders under 30, recognized by Inc Magazine as one of the top 35 under 35, and a featured appearance on Shark Tank. Though the burgeoning startup declined Robert Herjavec’s $2 million offer, BY has grown from a handful of employees to an expected 100+employees.

Currently serving as Co-Founder & Manager of Inbound Sales, Evan continues to garner knowledge and skills to secure membership of executive and high level clients.

In his spare time, (which is rare) Evan can be found kiteboarding, snowboarding, woodworking, metalsmithing, and perfecting the art of home-brewing.

Evan arrived in New York with the passion to hone his skills and preserve his Vermont roots. He has subsequently made a mark as an inventive entrepreneur in the cutthroat startup space.
