Eve Russell

I was born and brought up in the Scottish Highlands where I trained people in practical office skills in order to make them "fit for work". During this time I came to realise that it was not lack of intelligence that prevented people from getting a job but the effects of life's emotional battering. I met people who had degrees and people who were illiterate but they all had one thing in common and that was low self esteem and self worth. This can result from experiencing any form of abuse, emotionally or physically ranging from little put downs to all out violence. I volunteered as a counsellor for Parentline and the Samaritans and found I had a talent for counselling.

Eventually I studied an integrated mode of person centred and psychodynamic counselling and qualified in 2008. I am committed to personal growth and take every opportunity to explore and develop up to date counselling skills. I work in a prison where I practice CBT counselling, teach motivational skills and encourage self worth. I am also a qualifed online therapist, offering counselling via email, chat and video calls.

I provide therapy to adults who experience a wide range of difficulties, from mild anxiety to serious clinical depression. I take an organic approach building from the person centred model, encouraging clients to talk about what is troubling them here and now. We then explore together how to make effective progress This may or may not lead us into past experiences which have not yet been dealt with depending on what is most helpful for each individual client.

I provide empathetic supportive and professional therapy to clients from all backgrounds and cultures in a safe and non judgemental environment.
