How To Lay Vinyl Looselay Flooring
This type of flooring is the kind of flooring you can install without using many attachments. Loose lay vinyl flooring simply floats on the floor and is designed to lay flat. Even though this floor’s pattern may seem similar to other kinds of vinyl floors, this flooring this flooring material is much thicker, and to hold it flat, it has a fiberglass backing. It is not difficult to install this type of flooring over a flat, level, and smooth subfloor. In fact, so long as the existing flooring is in great shape, you can install this type of flooring over up to two layers of existing vinyl flooring.
Steps for laying the floor
1. Vacuum the existing vinyl floor or subfloor to get rid of all the grit and dirt. Using soap and water scrub the floor thoroughly and then dry it completely. Make any necessary repairs to the floor such as holes, cuts, or ant popped nails to ensure that the subfloor is level, clean, and smooth.
Ensure that you have brought the roll of the flooring to the location you intend to lay the floor a minimum of two days before installation so that the flooring may get used to the climate.
2. Using a pry bar or hammer remove the quarter round trim currently in the room.
3. Unroll the roll of the vinyl flooring. This floor type is restricted to only those spaces that are 25 yards with no seaming. If you have floors larger than this, or those configured to need seams then you need to use some other type of flooring.
4. Reposition the flooring so that most of the flooring lays flat and aligned with the walls. Slice the flooring so that at least 2 inches of the flooring continues up the fixtures, cabinets, or walls. Make cuts to make it easier for flooring at rounded fixtures and corners.
5. Using a vinyl flooring trimmer cut the vinyl. You can easily get these trimmers since they are available for hire. The trimmer cuts the vinyl 1/8 inch away from cabinets, baseboards as well as other obstacles. If you cannot get a trimmer, use a utility knife instead. Make sure that the flooring never touches any cabinet, wall, or obstacle and it should also have an even spacing of 1/8 inch around all objects.
