Matthew Lower

My name is Matthew Lower and I am a student here at the University of Georgia. I am now an official student at the Terry School of Business with a marketing major. I am a sophomore and my favorite part about UGA has been Greek life, UGA Athletics, and the friends I have made in college. I served as head rush chair at Chi Psi Fraternity during this spring and brought in 9 new members for our spring class. Currently, I am the risk manager at Chi Psi and in charge of making sure brothers do not do dangerous activities and dealing with the authorities. I want to explore the business world for my career and I want to sell complex ideas or products. This is made possible by the large network that Terry has to offer at UGA. I would say the most unique thing about me is my intense and unrelenting ambition. I started realizing this when I watched my current favorite show Peaky Blinders,which is about a leader of a British gang that creates an empire. Luckily, I am not a criminal but the mindset of the main character in the show (Tommy Shelby) helps keep me motivated with school. I want to become successful in life so I can provide for my family and generations to come. Currently, I work at Costco Wholesale as a cart attendant. I was ecstatic to get the job because it was $20 an hour which as an 18 year old that just graduated high school, a big deal. I’ve worked at Costco for 2 years now and I could possibly move up the chain if I wanted too. However, I want to move into a more marketing management position and I need to graduate at UGA if I want to accomplish this goal. While it is a long road ahead to where I want to be in life, the people I surround myself with will always keep me on my feet and ready for what's to come.
