The Rapid Response Team (RRT), sometimes referred to in the literature as an emergency care team, is a team of nurses and other health care workers (respiratory therapists, pharmacists, emergency room staff, and others) who provide an intensive care experience on a bedside table. Teams may or may not include doctors. The basic concept is to intervene to prevent damage when nurses urgently care about the patient's well-being. The main goal is to act before a "rescue failure" occurs, and the patient has suffered a cardiac or respiratory arrest.

Evidence confirming acceptance of the RRT test is ambiguous. However, many hospitals have identified the need for such a team to respond to the urgent problems of patients, when doctors or domestic staff may be absent.
