Currently a graduate student at Rice University, department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, with focus on Cancer Biology, and Med into Grad fellow at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Former undergraduate exchange student at the Pennsylvania State University, with a “Sandwich” Undergraduate Scholarship granted by the Brazilian government as part of the Science without Borders program. In Brazil, studied Biomedical Sciences at the Bahiana School of Medicine and Public Health and did undergraduate research at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ), with a scholarship granted by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development. From 2010 to 2013, was involved in 3 scientific projects with emphasis on developing strategies for immunomodulation of respiratory allergies utilizing dendritic cell-based vaccines in the Laboratory of Pathology and Biointervention at the Gonçalo Moniz Research Center, FIOCRUZ. At Penn State, focused his work in Immunology and Cancer Biology and was involved in an undergraduate research project which explores the role of megakaryocytes in breast cancer metastasis to bone.
