The sex reassignment surgery is a term that refers to surgical procedures by which the genitals are modified by the birth of a person to be like the genre with which the patient is identified. This surgery is transsexual people who choose it as part of their sex change done. It is also performed in cases of intersexuality (especially in childhood). The process is known by various names, such as sex reassignment surgery ( "CRS"), surgical gender reassignment, genital reconstruction surgery and gender reassignment surgery, among other medical terms such as "feminizing genitoplasty" or "penectomy", "orchiectomy" and "vaginoplasty" which in the clinical setting are used for transsexual women. For transgender men "masculinizing genitoplasty", "metoidioplasty or phalloplasty" is used. People who undergo sex reassignment surgery is commonly known as transsexuals "trans" - for having undergone a change, a transformation, a step; "Sex" - as they have characteristics (not sexual actions) of a person. More recently, these people identify as transgender and not as transgender.
