Mr. FactTruth

I finally figured out how to make one of these about me pages that everyone seems to have. Well first of all, as you can gather, my real name is not Mr. FactTruth. I prefer to be a bit anonymous, but for simplicity's sake, you all can call me Gene. I graduated from college this past year, and I have a bachelor's degree in Philosophy with Religious Emphasis.

I became very passionate about Christianity after a low point in my life where I was very confused about my faith and why things weren't going the way I was told they would if I believed and stuck to it. It was over the course of the last few years, with a help of a few very wise friends, I began to study Scripture for myself, and form an understanding of Christianity based on that. Through my college experience, I learned to dig deeper into things through pinning down facts and developing an ability to logically reason based on those facts.

I know often many people assume that every Christian forms their understanding based on Scripture, but you'd be surprised how often it's not the case, and how much historical human traditions have taken hold of how people view what Christianity is, and understand the meaning of Scripture. For myself, I put aside all of my preconceived notions from what I was taught growing up in a Baptist tradition, and let God's Word give me the means of which to view things. So it's my hope that my page provokes thought to you, and perhaps inspires you to change the course of your actions if need be. I'm also a person who's always interested in what's going on in the world, so occasionally I'll provide you with my thoughts on societal issues as well. God bless.
