Fahd Alhattab

Ottawa, Ontario

POLITICALLY ENGAGED. SOCIALLY ENGAGED. PERSONALLY COMMITTED. THAT IS FAHD ALHATTAB.

Politically engaged and socially engaged - these are the reasons behind Fahd's success, the reasons why he was named one of Canada's Top 20 Under 20 in 2013 and was asked to speak at National We Day in front of 16,000 youth in 2014. Yet the motivation for his unfading commitment stems from a personal root.

Fahd grew up in what he and his friends would later refer to as the “hood” of Ottawa, experiencing first hand the struggles of low-income families and neighbourhoods. It was his time at the local Boys and Girls Club that inspired him to help the very community and school he once attended.
Having been a York St. "Mustang" himself, Fahd and his friend Muhammad Zaman decided to co-initiate the York Street Ultimate March Break Day Camp for at-risk children - a category he once fit. Leading a team of volunteers, they raised over $33,000 and served over 200 families in the camp's four years of operation.

As an up and coming youth leader, Fahd sat as a Youth Ottawa Board of Director for 6 years, a fundraiser with the Children's Wish Foundation, helping raise over $100,000, and a student leader at Colonel By Secondary School and presently Carleton University.

Today, Fahd continues to focus on his community and political engagement with the aim of expanding it. Fahd's mission as a professional youth speaker and youth worker is to empower young people to spark remarkable change, build their dreams, and embrace youth leadership. His youth worker background and silly demeanor have his audience cracking at his jokes, engaged by his stories, and empowered to go from where they are, to where they want to be.
