Growing up, I was always quite curious. I was the kind of kid to pester my parents, other adults, and even kids my age as to why things work the way they do. This led to me gaining an interest in a lot of things, but nothing piqued my interest the way science did.
This fascination with science matured as I grew and turned into a love for medicine. I wanted to know the history of the human body, and understand all the diseases it came up with and learned to cure. Eventually, my interest led me to want to pursue a career in medicine. But, by the time I got to highschool I realized that other than an interest, I didn't have a why for wanting to go into medicine :( This all changed when I joined HOSA.
HOSA was a healthcare organization that allowed me to surround myself with people who shared the same interests and curiosity I did. It allowed me to go to different places and hear the stories of others, stories that would later inspire me to find my why. I began to compete, and during my training, I started understanding the impact that medicine made and how much hope it gave others. That became my why, knowing that one day I would be a source of hope for those who seemed helpless to the outside world. With HOSA, I had a community of people who felt the same, and that community became everything (even if they're strangers ↑)
