I currently attend the University of Georgia as an accounting major. My passion, however, is in music and sports. In fact, music was my first love. I first began to play the violin in the fifth grade. I transitioned from playing songs like jingle bells, arranged by my elementary school violin coach, to playing intricate pieces like Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings. I took orchestra as a class in middle and high school, but decided not to take it as a class in high school. While in high school I developed more of a passion for sports. I occasionally played tennis, but essentially I enjoyed watching other professional sports rather than playing. Currently, I am a basketball referee for GHSA (Georgia High School Association), but my ultimate goal is to become an NBA referee by the time I am 28 years old. My life in college has been a lot of pondering on whether being an accountant for a big corporation should be my future. I am well equipped with the accounting formulas and calculating equity, but is that all I have to live forward to is going to work for a good paycheck and no enjoyment? Ever since the first game I officiated, I have fallen in love with the fundamentals of basketball. As I will be a junior next year, I have chosen to major in sports management as a part-time student, and become a full time referee.
