Fan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Tsinghua University. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Social Work from Columbia University. He has served as an Advising Counselor at the Advising Center of Professional Business College in New York City, as well as a Policy Analyst at the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris.

Prior to joining Due West, Fan worked at Beijing Normal University, focusing on mental health policy and practice in China. He also worked as a Senior Consultant at a Beijing-based education consulting organization.

Fan serves as a Counselor on the Due West Early Start Team and is based in Beijing.
