I am a journalist and communications professional with more than 14 years of experience working across international journalism, strategic communications and African media.

My professional background has given me a deep understanding of the media landscape across Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as extensive experience working with diverse communities, languages and audiences.

I have developed a particular interest in how language influences the way people communicate, understand events and connect with one another.

Languages are at the heart of my broader interests. I am particularly passionate about Somali, Kiswahili and English, and about the richness, history and cultural meaning carried by each.

I enjoy exploring vocabulary, expressions, translation, language change and the connections between languages and the communities that speak them.

My journalism career has also strengthened my ability to write, translate, edit and communicate complex information clearly for international audiences.

Working in fast-moving and challenging media environments has developed my editorial judgement, attention to detail, cultural awareness and ability to communicate effectively under pressure.
