Fareed Fakhoury
Humnaitarina Professional, Political Research, and public Policy in Oxford, United Kingdom
Fareed Fakhoury is a Syrian activist, medical doctor, and humanitarian professional with more than 12 years’ experience working in conflict and displacement settings. Holding advanced degrees in Laboratory Medicine, Political Science & International Relations, and a Master of Public Policy from the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, he works at the intersection of protection, gender-based violence (GBV), sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and public policy.
Fareed has worked with the United Nations, MSF, Global Communities and local NGOs across Syria, Turkey, and the United Kingdom, managing and coordinating programmes that support displaced people, refugees, women and girls, and survivors of GBV. His practice is informed by ongoing research on Syria, asylum and refugee policy, the governance of armed and Salafi-jihadist groups, and gendered forms of corruption in humanitarian aid.
Beyond his professional work, Fareed is closely connected to Aleppo’s cultural heritage. As a board member of the Nefes Foundation for Arts & Culture, he helps preserve Syria’s musical traditions and build bridges between refugees and host communities. He is driven by a simple conviction: people affected by conflict and displacement deserve not only safety, but dignity and a voice in shaping their own futures.
