Hi! My name is Farida - Arabic for "unique". I'm an Egyptian soccer player, dedicating my life to developing the women's game while aspiring to become a professional soccer player and, eventually, a soccer coach! I'm a Vancouver Island University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Sport, Health, and Physical Education student. I'm also a writer.

To the soccer world, I am known as "Farida Salem". Blogging is my way of expressing all the frustration that arises through playing such a socially controversial sport in my country. Throughout my studies, I have represented Egypt on my school and college teams in Italy, Turkey, USA and Canada. It's safe to say I have friends all over the world now.

When I am not too busy playing or promoting the beautiful game, I'm an 8-ball pool shark, a gamer, movie buff, and coffee lover. I often write short stories and poems. Rumi is my inspiration. And I am currently writing a book called, "Lifeline byFS: A Work in Progress".

The battles I have fought to be where I am today are timeless. It doesn't matter how hard you fall, it's how strong you rise again that defines you.
