Fatema is a dynamic leader and advocate for digital equity, currently making strides at Salesforce as a Director for Program Management. She focuses on strategic initiatives enhancing developer productivity and happiness for the 3K+ developers at Salesforce. She has been a Seattle resident since 2019, transitioning from the San Francisco Bay Area to take on a pivotal role with Microsoft's Airband Initiative. In this capacity, Fatema has been instrumental in expanding internet access and digital opportunities for underserved communities worldwide, forging significant partnerships to connect 750 schools and clinics in remote islands across the Asia-Pacific region.

Her early fascination with the internet fueled her professional trajectory, driving her commitment to bridging the digital divide. This passion extends beyond her professional life; Fatema is deeply involved in systemic policy work and currently serves on the Board for the Internet Society - SF, advocating for an open and accessible Internet for all. In July 2017, Fatema became the youngest appointee to the Federal Communications Commission’s Advisory Committee on Diversity and Digital Empowerment, working to ensure equitable access to next-generation networks for disadvantaged communities. She has also actively contributed to the Global Connectivity working group for the UN High Level Panel on Digital Cooperation.

Fatema is a staunch advocate for gender parity and representation in technology. She served as Chair for the Asians at Microsoft Employee Resource Group, leading the development of a community-centered program and showcasing the ERG’s efforts at the NASDAQ Tower during Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month in 2021. Her commitment to fostering diversity extends to her past role on the board for Girls in Tech SF, and she has guided women entrepreneurs from Africa through the TechWomen program, helping them secure seed grants from the U.S. Department of State.

A trailblazer in her field, Fatema was the first female engineer in her family and holds a Master's degree in Telecommunications from the University of Maryland, College Park. Outside of her professional endeavors, Fatema embraces a variety of interests. As a new parent, she authored "A Winter Adventure in Seattle," a children's book created to support nonprofits aiding vulnerable mothers and newborns.
