The administrator of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Page, Arizona, Father Thomas Maikowski leads of program of preparation for Confirmation for the Catholic students who attend Page High School, across the street from the parish.
An alumnus of Saint Francis de Sales College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Father Maikowski earned his Bachelor of Arts in 1970 and went on to pursue a Master's degree in Secondary Education at Saint Francis College in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He then attended Cardinal Stritch College (now Cardinal Stritch University) in Milwaukee, where he obtained a Master of Arts in Special Religious Education in 1974. Father Thomas Maikowski subsequently began studies at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, where he concentrated on pastoral theology and gained a Master of Divinity in 1976. The following year, he pursued additional studies, earning a Bachelor's degree in Social Science, with a Minor in English, from Notre Dame College in St. Louis and a Master's degree in Education from Marquette University in Milwaukee, respectively.
Prior to joining Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Father Thomas Maikowski worked in Northern New Mexico for many years, serving in a variety of roles. He began as a Catholic school teacher in 1976. Recognized for his skills in the classroom as well as his academic background, he advanced to Superintendent of Schools in the Diocese and oversaw the operation of 12 schools with a cumulative student body of more than 1,300. Under Father Maikowski's guidance, the school district experienced significant growth and expansion. After a decade as Superintendent, Father Thomas Maikowski accepted a new role with the Diocese, as Director of Education. He also held positions as Scouting Chaplain, Defender of the Bond for the Matrimonial Tribunal, Principal at Saint Francis of Assisi School, and Director of Pastoral Planning.
