My name is Francisca Avila. Most of my friends call me Fran or Franz. I am 22 years old and my birthday is July 21st. I was born in Honduras, but when I was six months, my step-parent took me to live in Belize. Belize is a beautiful third world country. It is located in Central America, bordered on the North by Mexico, West and South by Guatemala, and East by the Caribbean Sea. We are a diverse country with a various languages and cultures. The cultures that we have are Chinese, Creole, Garifuna, Mestizo, Maya and Mennonites. We also have the lowest population density in Central America. Belize is known for its extreme biodiveristy and distinctive ecosystems. On the coast, there is a swampy coastal plain with mangrove swamps. In the south and the interior there are hills and low mountains. Most of our land is undeveloped and is forested with hardwoods. It is a part of the Mesoamerican biodiversity hotspot and it has many jungles, wildlife reserves, a large variety of different species of flora and fauna and the largest cave system in Central America. Some species of Belize's flora and fauna include the black orchid, the mahogany tree, the toucan and tapirs.
I am currently a sophomore at Valdosta State University. My major is Computer Information System. From an early age, I was exposed to computers. Because of the rapid advances in Computer and Information Technology over the past few decades which have brought about a revolution in science, medicine, education, business, and entertainment, I wish to be part of the future revolution. Also, my step-father(dad) is a computer science major and he inspired me. Besides computer science, I have a passion for music. It makes life look beautiful and makes me believe I'm going to be alright.
