Favour Abatang is a Girl's Rights Activist, Campaigner and Founder of Her Voice Foundation a non-profit organisation whose work focuses on providing support to teenage mothers and at-risk girls, reducing the number of out-of-school girls as a result of teenage pregnancy, leading initiatives to end harmful cultural practices against women and girls and increasing adolescent girls comprehensive sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) education. She has implemented projects through her organization with leading organizations such as UN Women, Urgent Africa Fund, International Rescue Fund, Ford Foundation, Chess in Slums Africa and a host of other organizations.
She was a research fellow at the Institute for Development Research at the Data Ville Group, Nigeria. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from the University of Calabar, Calabar and a certificate in Theology. She has experience working and delivering programs for feminist and women-led organisations such as Gender and Development Action (GADA). She has been a National Youth Gender Activist in UN Women, Nigeria since 2020.
Her research interests include: Barriers to delivering Girls' Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Education, Innovative ways to deliver second chance education to teenage mothers, social development, ending harmful cultural practices against women and girls in Africa. She has spoken about giving teenage mothers second chance opportunities on many platforms including the TedX Stage where she shared her groundbreaking speech onThe Power Of A Second Chance.
In recognition of her work, She has received various local and international awards including the Diana Award 2023, United Kingdom and the Girl Child Education Champion Award in Capetown South Africa.
