I'm Emily. By day I work for a local non-profit that works in education reform; by night I'm a book-reviewing, geek blogging, urban-fantasy-writing superhero. I spend a lot of time on tumblr and digg, reading and thinking and talking about the issues that interest me-- mostly representation in media and the importance of transformative fandom. I love cross-genre fiction, space westerns, Star Trek, noir fiction, grammar and linguistics, pirates and con men, China Mieville, David Bowie, and the X-Men. I'm an alum of Mount Holyoke College and passionate about feminism and the intersectional fight for equality. I'm a member of the Organization for Transformative Works and EMILY's list.

You can read my book reviews and opinion pieces on my blog, Plenty of Pages (the link is below). I'm a lifelong writer, a grammar geek, and possessed of some pretty killer research skills. I'm opinionated and articulate and love to talk about things that excite me. If you run a blog and are looking for freelance contributions, please contact me; I'd love to put my pen to work for you.
