Felix E Deacon

Based in Richmond, Virginia, Felix E. Deacon, III, is a financial professional and co-founder, chairman, and managing director of the alternative energy company DBD Biofuels, Inc. In addition to this alternative energy experience, Deacon has over 30 years of expertise in the financial sector, including founding Virginia’s first independent trust company, The Tredegar Trust Company. Under his leadership, Tredegar grew to over $551 million in assets. Felix E. Deacon, III, has also served in executive positions with Morgan Stanley, Legg Mason Wood Walker, and Central Fidelity Bank.

Felix E. Deacon earned an undergraduate degree from Virginia Military Institute in 1977. While in attendance, he served as the class Vice-President and was a member of Kappa Alpha – Beta Commission. After graduation, Deacon completed banking coursework at the University of Virginia and the ABA National Trust School, hosted by Northwestern University.

Deacon served as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 2004. During this time, he completed the Command and General Staff College and earned two Meritorious Service Medals. As a Battalion Commander, Felix E. Deacon, III, was responsible for training, logistics, and personnel for over 750 soldiers and 105 cadre members.

In addition to his professional experience, Deacon has also held leadership positions with a number of outside organizations. He is a past president and member of the Board of Directors of the VMI Alumni Association and was the chairman of its Executive Committee. Felix E. Deacon, III, was also involved in the VMI Foundation, the VMI Development Board, and the VMI Keydet Club. He served as the director of the St. Catherine’s Foundation and The Country Club of Virginia, Inc. Deacon has also participated in the Robins Foundation, the Virginia Bankers’ Trust Committee, and The Parliament.
