Ferentz Lafargue

Ferentz Lafargue is a faculty member in the History and Social Sciences Department at Georgetown Day School. He is also a memoirist (author of 2007′s Songs in the Key of My Life) and a essayist often exploring New York and national politics and culture, Haiti's diaspora, social media, and community outreach.

He is currently working on a manuscript Neither Here Nor There, and serves as the editor of The Layup Line, a website devoted to covering the intersections of sports and politics which he founded in 2011.

Prior to completing his PhD in African American and American Studies at Yale University, he earned a B.A. in Africana Studies and English at Queens College, CUNY. The list of colleges and universities where he has given presentations include, Dartmouth College, Williams College, University of California, Riverside and University of California, Irvine.

Ferentz's writing has appeared in the following venues 215mag, Americas Quarterly, The Huffington Post, Next American City, Social Science Research Council and Social Text: Periscope. His essays have also appeared in print publications Starting With I (Persea Books, 1997) and Strong Teens, Strong Neighborhoods (2007), and the inaugural issue of Bronx Biannual (Akashic Books 2006).
