Hydraulic engineer with a PhD in hydrology: my research and professional interests pertain to the development and application of Geographic Information System (GIS), remote sensing technologies and advanced hydro-modelling software for urban/land planning, environmental, water resources and natural catastrophies management projects. I'm currently assistant professor (ICAR/02) at the University for Foreigners of Perugia in affiliation with the Unesco Chair in Water Resources Management and Culture. The list of my scientific publications is here. Since 2011 I've been Principal Investigator of the "Flood hazard map updating project using GIS and bidimensional hydraulic models for the City of Rome" leading a working group nominated by the Tiber River Basin Authority. I'm also a fellow member of the Honors Center of Italian Universities (H2CU) and a team member of the flood modelling software FLO-2D. Networking and social media fanatic, I'm strongly passionate about Technology (ICT), technology transfer and start-up. Before arriving to the University for Foreigners of Perugia in 2012 I lived in the US for few years and, after completing my PhD in 2006, I cofounded applied research and consulting groups working at the national and international level and in particular: Geographic Information System Terrain Analysis Research [GISTAR] group, Hydraulics Applied Research & Engineering Consulting [HAREC], IDRAN Engineering & Technology [IDRAN].
