Fernando is a PhD Candidate at Aalto University School of Business in the Department of Management Studies, unit of International Business. Parts of his doctoral studies have been done at Stanford University. Since 2012 he has been an European Union 7th Framework Marie Curie Fellow in DESMA - a research network in the area of Design Management (www.desmanetwork.eu). Fernando has extensive corporate experience, having lived and worked in 4 continents as a manager of different companies. He holds a bachelor in management, a post-graduation in brand management, a master in marketing management and another one in design.
His research is interdisciplinary, addressing organisation studies, brand and design management practices. The doctoral research interests are focused on strategy and materiality in organisations. Digitalisation and corporate heritage have also been relevant areas in his work. Fernando regularly gives lectures about his on-going research in different institutions like the University of Barcelona, University of Essex, University of Turku and Aalto University School of Arts Design and Architecture.
Fernando attended doctoral classes at Aalto University, Copenhagen Business School, EMLyon, Imperial College, Lund University, Politecnico di Milano, Stanford University and University of Gothenburg, as well as different courses at other leading institutions like London Business School. He was a visiting scholar at Cass Business School, City University London (2015) and at Standord University (2014).
