I have graduated from the University of Lorraine (France) with a PhD degree in Health and Life Sciences, awarded with the European Doctorate label. During my PhD thesis on cancer chemoprevention and therapy by natural products realised in the framework of the European Commission “RedCat” Marie Curie Initial Training Network,I have worked on the “hit”discovery from natural products and on the elucidation of their mechanisms ofaction as therapeutic agents.
My research work-flow on drug candidate molecules starts from in vitro cytotoxic and antiproliferative analyses on different human models to detailed mechanistic studies and through characterization of their different pharmacological properties. During the last five years, I have used various biological techniques, assays and approaches (cell toxicity & proliferation assays, Western-Blot, use of specific inhibitors or activators, transient transfection, fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry,...) to analyse the biological anticancer properties of several natural (curcumin, plumbagin, fungal secondary metabolites,…) and natural - based compounds (UNBS 1450, coumarin, flavonoid derivatives,…) provided by chemistry partner teams on human cancer cell models and especially with leukaemia and prostate cancer cell lines but also on healthy human cells.
Scientific interests:
- Extraction and isolation of natural products from different sources (microorganisms: fungi, endophytes, streptomyces and bacteria; marine organisms: tunicates, sponges, algae and seaweeds; plants ; animals: insects, molluscs and venomous animals).
- Structure elucidation from NMR (H, C, HSQC, HMBC, COSY) and mass spectrometry data, dereplication.
- Drug discovery and highlight of natural products exerting biological activities as promising molecular candidates for the development of the next generation of therapeutic compounds, drugs, eco-friendly agrochemicals, high-value biotechnological compounds (cosmetics, biofuel, nutraceuticals,...).
