Fidel Bunglo
Actor, Director, and Musician in Manila
They call me Fidel, and the stage is my second home. At 24, I'm a whirlwind of creative energy, juggling roles as actor, producer, director, and even stage manager. But theatre isn't just a passion; it's my way of storytelling, of connecting with audiences, and of leaving a piece of myself on the boards.
My artistic journey started with music, its echoes still resonating in my church musician days. High school was when theatre entranced me. "Dramatica," our drama club, became my training ground, and singing competitions were my battlefields, where I honed my stage presence. But I craved more than just the spotlight. That's why I joined the Coro Tomasino, where I discovered the power of leadership, of motivating and inspiring others through chorale singing.
Theatre isn't my only muse, though. In the quiet moments, I find solace in journaling, pouring my thoughts and dreams onto the page. And when the real world needs a break, I escape into the captivating world of cinema, each film a portal to different lives and realities.
But it's in collaboration that my creative fire truly burns. Directing a play, breathing life into a script; managing the backstage chaos, ensuring every scene flows seamlessly; or acting alongside fellow artists, weaving emotions into a shared narrative – each role fuels me in different ways.
I don't work in theatre; I live it. With every production, I pour my heart and soul into it, leaving a mark not just on the stage, but in the hearts of those who witness it. So, the next time you're in the audience, keep an eye out. You might just see Fid Bunglo, the multifaceted artist, weaving his magic on the Manila stage.
