Greetings! Thanks for reading along. I'm the author, editor, illustrator, or photographer of more than 100 books for both adults and young readers. They range from young-adult novels and poetry to humorous nonfiction, and even a pop-up collaboration with the renowned Robert Sabuda (Chanukah Lights). My page here is the cover of a new picture book, The Forever Flowers.
My many children's books such as Elijah's Angel and The Cuckoo's Haiku have received a variety of distinguished citations and honors such as the National Jewish Book Award, Sydney Taylor Award, and the inaugural Simon Wiesenthal Museum of Tolerance Once Upon a World Book Award for the best children's book that promotes diversity.
Many of my books engage my background in zoology and my passion for nature and the creatures that share our world: They include a comprehensive, go-to handbook, My Dog! A Kids' Guide to Keeping a Happy & Healthy Pet; an eco-wise guide to fishing, The Kids' Book of Fishing; and two Kirkus Reviews starred-review books, The Hound Dog's Haiku and Other Poems for Dog Lovers, a wrote, "brilliant in every way—poetically, visually: the Tao of dogginess!" and The Maine Coon's Haiku and Other Poems for Cat Lovers, "This perfect poetical paean to pussycats makes both a fine gift for a cat lover and an excellent haiku handbook."
