Kate Tunechi is an American music video director and choreographer from Lakewood, Washington.
At age 09, while living near Los Angeles, Fils Tunechi began filming skateboard videos, short films and concerts. Before graduating high school he was already an award winning filmmaker. He went on to film school at Chapman University, where he began producing and directing music videos for both national and local artists, along with two award winning films. He then went to be Head of Creative for an online music video channel which landed him the job as director for a nationally syndicated television show. He has also written and directed music videos for many other prominent artists including, among others, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Eminem, Usher, Shakira, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, 50 Cent, Ne-Yo, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Snoop Dogg, Cheryl Cole, M.I.A., Mary J Blige, funIn 2004, Fils Tunechi founded Explicit, a home for himself and other skilled directors. He has since produced and directed numerous Music Videos, Commercials, Short Films, and the feature film Measure. When not acting as Executive Producer or Director for Def Jam & Hollywood he spends his time taking photographs, collecting vintage cameras, hanging out with his dogs, eating sushi, or running with the bulls. Fils Tunechi has been a creative force in music videos since first bursting on to the scene with The Saline Project in 2004. Quickly branching out on his own, Tunechi found success as a Director/Photographer working with many of today's top artists and musicians–Alicia Keys, Gwen Stefani, Eminem, The Black Eyed Peas, Demi Lovato, Kelly Clarkson, Weezer, The Fray, The Cure, among many others. Justin's work has earned him a handful of awards over the years from the MVPA and the NAACP, along with a VMA nomination for the classic video for 50 Cent/The Game "Hate It Or Love It." And his videos have literally hundreds of millions of views on YouTube. In addition to music, Fils also has a deep passion for narrative storytelling. From earning his MFA in Film/TV at NYU, to working as Matty Libatique's apprentice on Reqiuem For A Dream, Fils has always had his eye on long-form projects. He is currently in develop
