About FIOM Rwanda

We all need a little help sometimes; and in rural Rwanda that help is often as simple as the chance to learn and the basic tools to make a living.

With the support of donors from around the world FIOM Rwanda delivers vocational training and supplies the tools that help people to develop and sustain a viable livelihood, and to plan for a brighter future.

Since 2001 FIOM Rwanda has been supporting communities in the Eastern province of Rwanda, giving them the opportunity to develop the skills and the knowledge they need to make a sustainable living.

Many of the people who FIOM reaches out to are young and can see few options other than to follow their parents into subsistence farming; many are female, which can still be a barrier to success in this developing country; and many others are affected by HIV/AIDS.

Making a decent living in rural Rwanda is tough, but for these people it's a battle that is too often lost.

FIOM Rwanda gives these people hope; opening doors and helping them to become self-sufficient and to gain the self-confidence they need to succeed.

As well as offering vocational training opportunities, FIOM Rwanda also helps provide education in vital areas like family planning and HIV/AIDs prevention. Together these interventions help communities to be healthier, more prosperous, and to make the future in their minds into a reality.

Intervention areas:

FIOM Rwanda works in a number of core development areas: health, safe water and basic sanitation, capacity building and economic development, environmental protection and good governance.
