My first experience in a startup was back in 1995. I worked as a marketing coordinator in a 5 person business called Enhanced Service Providers. They were a one number service that attached to any other number so people could reach you anywhere. Basically, it was Google Voice of today. I left that company after 2 years but it was there that I discovered my passion, the internet and digital marketing. I worked on developing my first website and used that experience to get a marketing manager position at Reebok, where I started as part of a team of 5 working on Reebok.com to launching Ecommerce, online advertising, creating partnerships with Sony, EA, and the NBA, and launching some great programs like Terry Tate, Office Linebacker.
The last 5 years I moved away from the client side and worked as SVP, Digital at Fleishman Hillard and a VP, Group AD at Digitas. My clients have included mostly large companies like P&G, Gatorade, Bank of America, Ebay, and Houghton Mifflin.
I also had the pleasure of being the account lead for IdeaPaint, a startup in the Boston area.
I learned a lot from that relationship, but mostly that the fundamentals that drive a business like P&G, completely apply to a small company, just the scale and budgets are smaller. Understanding consumer behavior, and developing a strategy, playbook, a roadmap to implement, execution and measurement are all necessary, regardless of what kind of company you are, and how much money you have.
My passion is solving problems of which I use the internet as a device to accomplish that. I hope that you will let me help you solve some of the challenges and find solutions for your company.
