Spyridon Smparounis

Thank you for your interest in me. I'm a General Surgeon specialising in laparoscopic surgery. I graduated from the Athens Medical School (2008), as well as from the University of Athens Dept. of Informatics and Telecommunications (2013). I am a PhD candidate of the Athens Medical School, as well as a holder of an M.Sc. title in Surgical Oncology from the same School.

I spent and completed the entirety of my surgical residency at the 1st Propaedeutic Department of Surgery at Hippocration General Hospital of Athens, where I was trained in the preoperative and postoperative management of surgical patients ailing from a broad range of conditions. I have also received extensive training in ICU and critical care management, advanced laparoscopic techniques, metabolic and bariatric surgery, endocrine surgery, as well as many other fields of surgical topics (such as upper and lower gastrointestinal surgery, abdominal tumor surgery, laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gallstone disease, surgical treatment of hernias of all sorts). I have been participating in the education of medical students both from Greece, as well as from abroad, I have several publications in both Greek and foreign journals, and I have participated in various medical and surgical congresses, both Hellenic as well as international.

I am currently working as a consultant of the Advanced Laparoscopic Department of Surgery, at the Metropolitan General Hospital in Cholargos, Athens, Greece. If you have a medical issue, you can contact me to book an appointment and discuss your case at the earliest convenience.
