Francois Laureys is Country Director Burkina Faso for Development Media International.
Born in 1960, he graduated in Communication Sciences at the University of Amsterdam in 1986, and worked as a radio journalist from 1986 until 1998. Between 1998 and 2001, he was editor news of the Radio Netherlands web site.
He joined IICD in 2001 in order to work on its Capacity Development programme, and worked in Bolivia, Burkina Faso and Mali. In the two latter countries, he set up local information networks. From 2005 until early 2015, he was in charge of all IICD projects and programmes in both countries. He started working for DMI in June 2016.
Interested in information and communication technology and 'classic' media.
Languages: Dutch, French, English, German, Spanish.
