Flavia Pichiorri

Scientific Writer and Cancer Researcher in Los Angeles, CA, USA

I am a Los Angeles–based cancer researcher and scientific writer focused on translational and clinical science in haematologic malignancies. My work centres on diseases such as multiple myeloma and acute leukaemia, with particular interest in therapeutic targets including CD38 and CD84, as well as radiation-based treatment strategies. Throughout my career, I have focused on bridging laboratory discoveries with clinical research to help advance new therapeutic approaches for patients with blood cancers.

I was born and raised in Rome, Italy, where I developed an early interest in analytical thinking and scientific discovery. I studied molecular biology and biochemistry at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, earning a Master’s degree in Biochemistry and Enzymology with top honours. I later pursued doctoral research in experimental medicine and expanded my training in the United States, conducting research at Thomas Jefferson University and The Ohio State University.

My research has explored the molecular and epigenetic mechanisms that drive plasma cell malignancies and other cancers. Over time, I have contributed to the development of targeted therapies, immune-based approaches, and translational research programmes aimed at moving discoveries from the laboratory into early-phase clinical studies.

Today, I continue to write about science and remain engaged in the evolving field of cancer biology and translational medicine.
