Being a parent of a college aged child has never been an easy task. And with all the options facing young adults as of late, the-job gets even harder. But a new program run by Miami Schools is attempting to alleviate some of the stress on parents with several programs intended to keep parents informed on some of the most significant problems facing young people in the Miami Schools.
Parent Academy in Miami Schools
The Miami-Dade Public County School system works a year-round Academy to inform and help the parents of students in other schools and Miami Schools in the county. There is no official campus. Instead classes and programs are used in firms, libraries, on-line, and in some public Miami Schools. Courses are in-formal in nature, but dont let that fool you. Parents learn quite a bit while still having plenty of fun. And best of all, Miami Dade Public Schools doesnt charge a fee of any kind.
The courses managed by the Academy of Miami Schools differ greatly. As an example, many parents took a financial management course offered in 2007. This class helps parents organize their finances and deal head-on with dilemmas like credit cards. It also provides a forum for parents to discuss all of the costs associated with sending a kid or kids to Miami Schools. And there are always a lot.
