Dr. Florence Yeung
Clinical psychologist in Hong Kong
Dr. Florence Yeung is a Clinical Psychologist who completed her doctoral training in the UK before relocating back to Hong Kong. With extensive experience across diverse settings including community mental health teams, inpatient psychiatric wards, child and adolescent services, neurological rehabilitation, and cardiac psychology, Dr. Yeung has worked with individuals across the lifespan facing complex mental health challenges. This ranges from common depression and anxiety disorders, to complex trauma and PTSD, personality disorders, as well as relational and familial difficulties and other life transitional challenges. She also has experience facilitating therapeutic groups and delivering professional training to multidisciplinary teams.
Dr. Yeung believes that the difficulties we face in relationships aren't about what's wrong with us, but what happened to us and how those experiences shaped the ways we protect ourselves. She brings a compassionate, collaborative approach to therapy, offering clients a safe space to understand the connections between their past experiences and present challenges, discovering new ways of connecting with yourself and others.
Dr. Yeung believes in meeting clients where they are, adapting her approach to what you bring to the room. She draws on an integrated approach that ranges from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and third-wave interventions(e.g. Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)), to more in-depth approaches that help us understand how our past shapes our present difficulties, as well as experiential methods that engage the body and emotions. Drawing on Schema Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and the Dynamic-Maturational Model of attachment and adaptation (DMM).
Dr. Yeung supports clients in developing greater flexibility in how they respond to life's challenges, moving from survival patterns to genuine safety and authentic connection.
Dr. Yeung is particularly interested in parental caregiving patterns and their influence on attachment, utilising specialised assessment tools such as the Meaning of the Child Interview (MotC) to help parents understand the impact of their parenting style on their children in a compassionate and empowering way.
She offers individual, couple, family and group therapies, and also supports organisations through customised corporate programmes, workshops, and psychoeducation training.
Dr. Yeung’s vision is to weave psychological care into the fabric of daily life, so seeking support feels ordinary rather than something reserved for crisis or illness only.
