Florie Vinca

Hello Classmates and Professor Laskin,

My name is Florie Vinca. I was born and raised in CT. I am currently a Finance Manager at United Technologies Corporation Aerospace Systems in West Des Moines, IA where we make fuel nozzles for airplane engines.

I graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2008 with a degree in Finance and started my career at UTC in the Financial Leadership Program. From there I went onto UTC Corporate Internal Audit and after four years of traveling weekly and working long hours, I have settled down in West Des Moines, IA. I have lived in IA for about two years now and it has been incredible to see how the area has expanded since becoming #2 in the insurance industry and technology hub for San Francisco.

I have a wide variety of hobbies which include paddleboarding, soccer, going to the gym, and ballet. Once I complete my MBA this March, I would like to learn how to play the ukulele because I love music and find it to be such a fun instrument. I really enjoy traveling as well as trying new restaurants. All the years in audit made me quite the foodie from having the opportunity to dine all over the world.

This course is my last class in order to complete my MBA from Quinnipiac University. I am looking forward to connecting and learning from everyone and getting to try something very different from the accounting world which is my focus day to day at work.
