I am multidisciplinary scientist. Trained as a Chemist, Biologist and Pharmacist and with a PhD in Food. Have worked in research centers and universities in Sonora (Mexico), Santiago de Compostela (Spain) and presently in Münster (Germany). Have active academic collaborations in Mexico, India, Brazil, Argentina and Chile. I advocate collective intelligence and team work as the key elements to great scientific discoveries. This is possible only in nurturing environments where people fully realize their potential as persons and scientists. In principle, the University system worldwide offers this possibility. However, Universities are not always valued enough as compared to other institutions. Besides, many Universities are still extremely traditional and have enormous barriers between areas of knowledge, faculties and between the minds of the professors. Making a successful a career in academy is a really tortuous and long endeavor. Especially for those who decide to move! If we think of professional football players, they can change teams easily (sometimes to the sadness of their fans) and society values them so much, that they earn more money than any scientist in her/his entire life only in few years. Why we scientists cannot move between Universities across the world more easily? Only then Science would really be "Universal" as Universities ought to be too.

Besides science, I enjoy photography (landscapes, traveling), listening to music, being in flip-flops, T-shirt and shorts, eating, wine and cooking (BBQ) and enjoying relaxing with family and friends.
