Fiona McAuliffe
Fiona McAuliffe is currently the Directed of Studies at Walford and has taught mathematics for many years. She has a particular interest in the development of numeracy skills in the middle years and has received excellence awards for her innovated approaches in this area. As part of her Masters Degree, Fiona’s research in digital learning has reinforced her appreciation of ensuring the curriculum is considered first and foremost in the use of digital devices in schools. Once the learning objectives are established, the integration of digital technology presents opportunities for higher order thinking and more critical and creative reflections. As Director of Studies Fiona has been directly involved in the bigger picture strategic planning required to infuse digital technology into the curriculum. Through her experiences leading learning in mathematics, Fiona believes that starting with identifying the learning objectives develops meaningful digital activities in the classroom. The iPad has provided opportunities to extend the traditional learning and provide stronger numeracy skills in mathematics classrooms.
