A very lonesome and particularly cold winter three years ago I met eight folks that were somewhat special to me. They were what once society coined as "rebels," the problematic kids that I had once known. Discrimination towards these people was unimaginable to the point that it cannot be expressed with words. Society called them problematic, disabled, useless, and a detriment to society among other things. Fingers were pointed at them and they were disdained. What made me mad in particular was the attitude of these folks that took all of this insults and condescending manners with no resistance. This is how this sticky relationship and challenge began. Today, after three years have passed, we stand firm in where we call the center of the universe, narrating the story of our lives. We stand surrounded by pointing fingers and disdainful glares. We stand strong with no one’s support but our own strength—We stand firm, on our own.
