Rae-Anne Richardson
Student, Writer, and Editor in Trinidad and Tobago
I am Rae, currently struggling to convey the meaning that the sound of my name suggests.
I may not transcend through miles brightening the world as I go but I am bold. And like the yin to my problematic yang I have grown to recognize the benefits of the darkness that sometimes overshadows the growing light I do carry.
I am the author of my life… literally. The broken sentences of my work represent the slashes I have endured, my trials and errors; whilst its completion continues to remind me that every journey does have a destination. I am a labyrinth of excitement, danger, lust and adventure with a weakness for the human mind. I am an amateur in all things holding on to the belief that there is always something new to explore.
As I writer I am determined to give my work the strong voice I may not always possess. They must hold conversations with your mind, run the paces of your heart’s desires or provide solitude.
I am the sun; planted as the world orbits tirelessly around me growing with ferocity so that one day my little light will grow brave with passion, warmth and inspiration. I am a lover of love and a sucker for the intelligent and if you haven’t guessed it by now – I am a Lit major.
I am “love on display” but my image is distorted as it adjusts to one day configure the woman I am supposed to be. Trial and error.
I am a force to be reckoned with; purity in my heart and ambition in my veins. Strength with budding intelligence. Wit paired with my infamous smart-mouth; the bearer of lame jokes and stimulating conversation.
I am an advocate for equality, a voice of reason and a believer in second chances.
I am Human.
