Nicholas Forteski
Teacher and Student in Sudbury, ON, Canada
Hello, I’m Nicholas. I was born in Sudbury, Ontario Canada in 1998. My parents raised my younger brother and I here, teaching us the importance of community involvement and working with others. Athletics, along with the visual arts, have always been passions of mine; participating and excelling in football and basketball while also receiving recognition for my artistic abilities. The hard work ethic and dedication I developed through sports and the arts has followed me in all aspects of life, with it's most significant impact being seen through my educational performance and academic achievement.
Although school has opened my mind to exploring many new career paths and possibilities, it became apparent that I wanted to be an educator. My reason for pursuing the teaching profession is simple; I wish to help make a difference in the lives of students, assisting them in reaching their highest potential (just as my teachers had done for me).
Through my experience as a coach for both football/basketball teams, as well as a volunteer summer camp councillor, I have developed the necessary skills needed for organizing and working with groups of children in a fun, safe, and open environment. My Concurrent Education program at Laurentian University has also allowed me to engage in other areas relevant to teaching, such as tutoring students with learning disabilities, gaining experience in a classroom setting, while learning lesson planning skills. Teaching is the perfect career path for me and I am exited to see what the future holds.
