Our guide to getting started on FIFA 19 with the basics of football simulations and some specific tips to defend and attack on the game.

The new edition of FIFA has just been released and it is high time to get back in shape on the most popular football simulation in the world. To this end, we have prepared a beginner's guide, which will serve as an introduction to other guides and tips, both for players new to the world of football simulations and for more experienced players looking to improve.

Our advice to understand the game

First of all, a general advice for all FIFA 19 players: the "Adventure" game mode can be an excellent tutorial to quickly get started with the new version of the game.

For FIFA 17 players, don't forget that you are no longer using your perfect team composed on FUT. Your first games may be much more complicated by using less complete players. It is not necessarily that the game is more difficult or less easy to learn, only that the habit of playing with superstars tends to develop a particular style of play.

Move the ball around

Generally, players who have never played a football simulation tend to make few passes, rush forward and keep the ball on one or two players. If it works on an arcade title, it is very difficult to constantly progress in this way on FIFA.

It is necessary to move the ball as often as possible, even when you are not yet completely comfortable with your passes. By avoiding keeping the ball on the same player, you create spaces on the field, forcing your opponent to react to your players' movements. In addition, if your opponent is forced to respond to your movements, he may make mistakes.

If you are not used to it, try mainly to give the ball to a single player, even if it means going back. Play on the wings if possible, this tends to widen the playing area and thus create spaces.

The Sprint is not your best friend

In many cases, new (or bad) FIFA players tend to sprint with the ball at the slightest touch of the ball. The problem is that by sprinting you lose precision in your movements but also in your control of the ball and in your movements. Especially since, depending on your player's level, you may even lose the ball on a change of direction.
